Bills Ex & Giants Coach Brian Daboll Wins Coach of the Year Award

Brian Daboll, formerly the Buffalo Bills' offensive boss, took the New York Giants to unexpected heights this season.

No matter which Empire State-branded team he's representing, Brian Daboll continues to win.

Daboll, the head coach of the New York Giants, was one of the big winners at the NFL Honors on Thursday, taking home the Coach of the Year Award. The victory comes in his first year as a head coach, a position partly earned through his illustrious four-year stretch as the Buffalo Bills' offensive coordinator.

Under Daboll's watch, the Giants went the from NFC East cellar to the NFC Divisional, going from 4-13 to 9-7-1 with Daboll at the helm. The team even managed to secure an upset win over Minnesota in the Wild Card round before falling to eventual conference champion Philadelphia. That win over the Vikings nonetheless stood as the Giants' first postseason victory since Super Bowl XLVI in 2012.

Buffalo fans are likely hardly surprised by the way Daboll quickly adapted to a top headset. The Bills' offense took major steps forward during the latter portions of his four-year term as the offensive coordinator, notably ranking second in points and yards per game in 2020, a season that saw him earn the NFL's Assistant Coach of the Year title. Daboll has been credited with helping quarterback Josh Allen reach the next step of his NFL potential and seems to be embarking on a similar quest when it comes to Daniel Jones of the Giants.

Bills fans won't have to wait long to give Daboll a warm welcome back, as the Giants are set to first Highmark Stadium next season.
