Browns CB Greg Newsome Makes Number Change for 2023 Season

After hinting at it on Instagram, Cleveland Browns CB Greg Newsome II is officially changing his jersey number. Newsome will switch from No. 20 to No. 0 going forward.
The interesting thing about this is that Newsome had to cross some hurdles to make it happen. Unless you’re switching teams, you have to buy out all of the old jersey numbers that have been produced and not sold yet. So, with the jersey switch being official, Newsome has taken care of that.
Wearing zero on the front is a different look that not everyone is a fan of, though it is quite smooth. Newsome expects to play more on the outside for the Browns this year, and he will do so wearing the zero.
With the switch to zero, it’s a potential way to build a brand. At this point not many players wear zero, so it’s easier to correlate the numeral to said player. It’s not known why Newsome made the switch.
Whether he is wearing 20 or 0, the goal for Newsome will still be locking down the other team’s wide receiver. Nothing changes on the front, besides the number he will be wearing.
Additionally, linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah is going back to his Notre Dame roots. JOK will switch from No. 28 to No. 6 for the upcoming season. He’s the first player to wear No. 6 since quarterback Baker Mayfield in the 2021 season.
