Steelers Player Fined for Hit in Browns Game by NFL
The Monday night game between the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers was a physical slugfest. Both defenses seemed to play every down like it would be the last in a highly contested matchup.
It was an offensive player, however, that receives a hefty fine upon further review from the league. Steelers running back Jaylen Warren was fined $48,333 for an illegal use of helmet even though referees missed the call during the game.
Warren caught a pass out of the backfield from Kenny Pickett during the second quarter of the game. He broke it for a big gain down the left sideline before Browns free safety Juan Thornhill angled on his approach to make a sideline tackle. As the two players collided, it appears Warren lowered and led with the crown of his helmet into the side of Thornhill’s helmet.
It ended up going for a gain of thirty yards for the Steelers. Luckily Thornhill escaped suffering a concussion and thankfully both players were okay after the play. You can watch the full clip below.
Warren's agent posted minutes later that his client would be appealing the fine immediately. It's hard to say whether or not the play was intentional and wasn't the play in the game that most Browns fans wanted a fine for after the game.
