What to Watch for in Browns vs. Titans

Today's matchup is all about the offense and whether Deshaun Watson can get things going in the passing game.

The Cleveland Browns have a home game today against the Tennessee Titans that carries a lot more significance than it normally would. The Browns are carrying a lot of baggage from the past and fans only want the answer to one question.

Is Deshaun Watson ever going to be any good at playing quarterback?

The offseason was all about what was perceived as a transformation of Kevin Stefanski's playbook in order to get Watson playing at his best. So far, the offense has looked pretty pedestrian with Watson scrambling around with an empty cannon.

The Browns are no longer able to fall back on running the ball with Nick Chubb and Watson now is forced to carry the weight by picking up yards through the air. It will be up to Watson to get it done today against a Titans secondary that has allowed both opposing quarterbacks to throw for over 300 yards in each of their first two games.

Can Jed Wills have a complete game in pass protection?

Wills has been a problem through the first two games in pass protection. He is getting beat back inside to the quarterback on a regular basis an Watson hasn't looked comfortable. He needs to give Watson a split second longer to get the ball out on developing routes.

Elijah Moore needs the ball in his hands.

We heard so much about that special Watson to Moore connection throughout training camp but haven't seen much in the first two games. The Browns have to get Moore involved early and often. Moore only has 6 catches on 16 targets so far this season.

Notice that I haven't included anything on the defensive side of the ball to watch for as I have no concerns today despite Greg Newsome being out with an elbow injury. My focus is entirely on the offense and I want to see an improvement on that side of the ball.
