Chargers News: Jim Harbaugh Seems to Remember WR Room is Lacking Mid-Interview
The Chargers have a whole lot of nothing to work with when it comes to their wide receiver room at the moment.
There is little to flaunt about regarding the Los Angeles Chargers' wide receiver room. The Bolts have made some seismic changes on the offensive side of the ball this offseason. First, the Chargers released star wide receiver Mike Williams, which shocked quite a few people. For an encore, they traded away six-time Pro Bowler Keenan Allen to the Chicago Bears.
Just like that, in the span of a few days, LA's two-star wide receivers were out the door. It was a tough pill for the organization and its fans to swallow. They have been Chargers for so long that it's hard not to picture them in powder blue. Head coach Jim Harbaugh might've fallen victim to that in his recent interview with the media.
When a reporter asked his thoughts about the wide receiver room, Harbaugh seemed to remember the lack of depth and talent in his wide receiver room mid-interview.
Per Chargers.com, they only have three wide receivers on their depth chart: vet Joshua Plamer and a pair of incoming sophomores, Derius Davis and 2023 first-round pick Quentin Johnston.
One can argue that the Bolts currently have the worst wide receiver room in the league, along with the Buffalo Bills. It's not a position the team wants to be in, but they felt it necessary considering the cap space hell they were working with before the new league year. Luckily, they are on the positive side of the cap, however, they have a ton of ground to make up for as the offseason progresses.
The Chargers hold the number five pick in the 2024 NFL draft, and many pundits and experts believe they could choose their next great pass catcher. A wide receiver is a team need, but we'll see if the Bolts decide to go that direction or if they look to sign a free agent or trade for one.
Who will Justin Herbert throw to if they don't pick one up?
