Chargers News: Bolts Snap Embarrassing Record From the 1990s

This might be the worst record they could've broken.

The Bolts' ugly 6-0 victory over the New England Patriots marked the first time the team has won a game without scoring a touchdown since Week 13 of the 1995 NFL season.

As ESPN's Kris Rhim explains, the Chargers escaped their 1995 late-season contest against the Raiders with a 12-6 victory – a game that was likely somehow more watchable than the rainy massacre that was Sunday's outing.

Prior to this win, the Bolts had lost their previous 19 games in which they hadn't scored a touchdown. This makes their most recent victory a win for the defense's improvement, as it suggests that it was good enough to cushion a historically bad offensive outing.

Going forward, the offense clearly needs a lot of work, as despite having an elite quarterback, left tackle, and wide receiver, a trio that almost ensures top-tier offensive production, they've scored exactly – or failed to eclipse 20 points for the 5th time this season.

With an incredibly inconsistent defense, we'll see if the offense can return to assuming its responsibility of putting up 25+ points a night, or else the next few games against Denver, Buffalo, and later on, Kansas City will have grim outcomes.
