Chargers News: Bolts’ Updated Draft Selection After Sunday Games
Your Los Angeles Chargers are en route to losing out and finishing 5-12, but by many accounts, that's a good thing.
A higher draft pick would allow the Chargers to snag a generational piece to pair alongside Justin Herbert, equipping the franchise with two cornerstone (likely offensive) pieces, along with offensive tackle Rashawn Slater.
Prior to Herbert, the last major piece drafted by the Bolts that has been a long-term contributor was Joey Bosa, and even he has begun to taper off in recent years.
The 2024 NFL Draft is loaded with top-tier offensive talent, including Marvin Harrison Jr., Brock Bowers, Malik Nabers, Joe Alt, and more.
Despite losing to Buffalo on Saturday night, the Bolts have actually fallen in the draft order, sitting at no. 6 after another loss by the New York Giants.
Ahead of them are the Chicago Bears (in possession of the Carolina Panthers' pick), the Arizona Cardinals, the Washington Commanders, the New England Patriots, and the Giants.
Given the remaining schedules of the teams above them, it's unlikely the Bolts will be able to leapfrog any of them, leaving them outside of the top 5. It's too early to guarantee that, however, as especially entering Week 18, top teams may sit their starters due to playoff seeding being guaranteed.
Understanding that, it's key to note that every team above the Bolts in the order faces off against a current division leader with exception of the Patriots, who face off against Buffalo and the New York Jets.
We won't know where the Bolts pick until the season is officially over, but don't expect them to slip much, if at all.
