Chargers News: Derwin James Faces Fine for Week 2 Titans Hit

That's a whole lotta cash

Los Angeles Chargers star safety Derwin James has been hit with a fine for his hit on Titans wide receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine.

James is fined $21,855 for the hit, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero.

The hit came in the third quarter, where James slightly put his head down and made contact with Westbrook-Ikhine's helmet.

Here's the hit, and you be the judge.

The officials deemed it a personal foul, and today, James has to pay up big time for that hit.

This is the second time in less than a calendar year that James has been fined for a helmet-to-helmet hit. This past one wasn't as severe as the one in December 2022 during Week 16 against the Indianapolis Colts. That hit ended in an ejection, a fine of $25,462, and he was unable to play in Week 17 due to being in the league's concussion protocol.

The good news for the Bolts is he will play in Week 3, and he'll make sure not to use his head this time around.
