Chargers News: LA's Defensive Coordinator Respects Challenge Posed by Vikings All-Pro WR

An intriguing matchup for week 3.

Vulnerable in their defensive backfield to start the 2023 season, LA's next game on the docket won't get any easier for their secondary pitted against the NFL's best wide receiver by many estimations.

Lining up against Justin Jefferson and the Vikings this weekend, Chargers defensive coordinator Derrick Ansley respected the challenges the All-Pro will give his unit ahead of this pivotal Week 3 contest.

"Justin [Jefferson] is very talented. He's a long guy. He has really good body control. He is limber, where his body can do things in the air that most people can't. It's going to be a really good challenge for us. We have a lot of respect for him and [Vikings QB] Kirk [Cousins] — and [Vikings WR Jordan] Addison, as well. They have a really good bunch over there so we have to do a really good job of doing our part and stopping them."

Jefferson's first three seasons in the league couldn't be more prolific if he tried, setting numerous receiving records at such a young age.

Likely poised for the largest contract ever given to a wide receiver soon, the Minnesota phenom picked up where he left off last year, racking up 20 catches for 309 receiving yards in his first two tilts of 2023.

Despite his astonishing individual performance, Jefferson's team has struggled to a 0-2 record, similar to their incoming opponent from LA.

Both teams are indeed motivated to get back in the win column, knowing that a 0-3 record will all but doom any chance at playoff football for either squad.

Boasting their talented offense, Bolts' QB Justin Herbert hopes to lead his unit to victory against Jefferson and his veteran signal-caller Kirk Cousins in what should be an exciting shootout up north this weekend.
