Chargers News: Mike Williams Shares College Commitment Day's Wild Behind-the-Scenes Moment
The hopes and dreams of many NFL players start on commitment day when they're in high school. Many NFL players have experienced the thrill of picking a college to attend to expand their education and their playing careers further. It's a special moment for the player, their families, and their future school.
It is a day players never forget, and Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams is no exception. For those who have followed Willaims closely, he attended college football powerhouse Clemson Univeristy from 2013-2016. He was a four-star wide receiver and proved to be all that and more in his three seasons there, snagging 177 catches for 2,727 yards and 21 touchdowns. Because of this, LA selected him with the seventh overall pick in the 2017 Draft.
However, before all the success he endured at Clemson, he was not even considering attending. Williams appeared on a podcast and broke down his decision and how he caught his family off guard.
He caught his entire family by surprise; however, it's safe to say it worked out.
Nonetheless, Williams was set on South Carolina. As he explained, it was close to home, and he didn't have to travel far. Something changed as he was up on the podium, and he didn't hesitate to pick the Tigers.
Who knows how different his life would be if he ended up going to South Carolina? If he did, he might not have landed in LA.
How things would have been different.
