Chargers News: Tuli Tuipulotu Garners Praise from LA's Pro Bowl Edge Rusher
The Chargers had a solid off-season. LA improved their offense by adding Kellen Moore, improved their defense by adding Eric Kendricks, and they did their job adding the necessary rookies in the NFL Draft.
LA's first-round pick, Quentin Johnston, has garnered the most attention, and rightfully so. He's impressed during OTAs, minicamp, and is doing the same in training camp. Johnston seems to be the clear favorite to be WR3, and we cannot wait to see him ball out at this level.
Although Johnston is getting all the attention, Chargers defensive end superstar Joey Bosa is impressed with their second-round pick, edge rusher Tuli Tuipulotu. Bosa spoke with the media during training camp and praised the youngest player on the team at just 20 years old.
“Tuli’s great,” Bosa said. He is everything you could possibly want in a rookie. Physically gifted. He does everything right. He calls me sir, which is a little weird.”“He’s a great guy,” Bosa added. “Probably the nicest guy. Probably knows the playbook better than me already. He’s just on top of his stuff. Just wants to learn, just wants to get better.”
Tuli was taken by LA with the 54th overall pick in the second round and could be a steal in the draft. Tuipulotu attended the University of Southern California and is from the Los Angeles area, Hawthrone, California.
He elected to forgo his senior season after a tremendous junior season where he collected 46 total tackles, 22 tackles for loss, 13.5 sacks, and one fumble recovery while taking home the 2022 Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year.
He could very well be the steal of the draft, and by the sound of it, he will be. Bosa has accomplished so much in the league, and for him to recognize the type of work Tuli is putting in can go a long way.
