Charger Report Score Predictions: Is LA In Full Tank Mode Vs Raiders?

Or merely partial tank mode?

At 5-8 and with Pro Bowl quarterback Justin Herbert officially ruled out for the rest of the year, it sure seems like your Los Angeles Chargers' 2023 season is over. All the same, there are unfortunately four more games we're going to have to watch before this miserable run reaches a merciful conclusion.

Herbert's not going to be the only Pro Bowler sidelined for the Bolts. Veteran star wide receiver Keenan Allen is also on the shelf.

Tonight, LA heads to Allegiant Stadium to take on the other current 5-8 AFC West franchise, the Las Vegas Raiders. Neither team probably wants to win at this point of the year, but unfortunately for all parties involved in this probable slog, somebody will have to.

Our Charger Report staffers weigh in below on just how things will shake out tonight.

"The Bolts are going to be without their two best offensive players in Allen and Herbert tonight. Herbert's injury looked pretty grim, and essentially doomed LA's year. It's not clear just how hurt Allen actually is, and I wonder if the Chargers are resting him as a bit of a precaution, with essentially nothing meaningful to play for but draft positioning. And that's the goal of this club from here on out: full-on tanking. The Raiders, however, have yet to determine the identity of their own starting quarterback, are also in a bit of a tailspin, and might also hope to lose as many games as possible down the home stretch of the season. But I have faith that these Chargers can be worse all the same. I'll say 14-6 Raiders."

"Chargers are going to lose in a field goal matchup against Las Vegas, 9-0. LA will pick off Aidan O’Connell twice tonight but Las Vegas’s defense will hold up against LA."

-Thomas Murray

"The Chargers can't seem to shake the injury bug, and losing Justin Herbert for the season does not inspire much more confidence. The Raiders are not necessarily a terrible team, but they always bring it to their divisional rivals. Maxx Crosby could make today very uncomfortable for Easton Stick and this shaky Chargers O-line. Raiders 21 - Chargers 14."

-James Brizuela

"The Chargers are without their quarterback and top weapon in Keenan Allen. They’re playing a Raiders team that allowed just three points a week ago (in a loss somehow). On this must-win Thursday Night Football game, the Chargers will see their season all but end with a loss to Las Vegas. Raiders: 23, Chargers: 13."
