Chargers News: Justin Herbert Makes History In Vikings Win
In your Los Angeles Chargers' narrow win against the Vikings on Sunday, Justin Herbert completed a feat that only one other person in NFL history has ever done.
Herbert went 40/47 with 405 yards and 3 touchdowns. In doing so, he became just the second person in NFL history to throw for over 400 yards and 3 touchdowns with no interceptions while also completing 85 percent of his passes.
It should come as no surprise that Herbert keeps making history seemingly every time he touches the field.
The Chargers saw something special in the University of Oregon quarterback when they selected him 6th overall in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Since then, the 25-year-old has thrown for just over 15,000 yards, has won Rookie of the Year, made a Pro Bowl, and came in the top 10 in MVP voting just last season.
It also helps that the new offense this season, led by Kellen Moore, is designed to be a very open offense for Herbert, and it should make it easier for him to throw the ball down the field.
There's no question that Herbert was already an elite quarterback coming into this season but with this new style of offense, he's poised to do even bigger and better things.
And with the absence of the running game because of Austin Ekeler's injury, Herbert has been able to air it out even more this season. He's already almost thrown for 1,000 yards through three weeks.
But this kind of turned into a give-and-take scenario.
Even though the absence of Ekeler has let Justin Herbert throw a lot more, the quarterback just lost his number 2 wideout for the remainder of the season.
Herbert is going to be special for years to come, and he might just keep making history every single week. He's just that good.
