Raiders' Star RB Could Spell Trouble for Chargers Defense in Upcoming Divisional Clash
The Chargers first division matchup takes place tomorrow as they will be set to take on their biggest rival, the Las Vegas Raiders.
The matchups between these two never disappoint, and we should be in for another thriller matchup. It is a must-win for the Bolts, as they will look to avoid a 1-3 hole and instead move to .500.
There are a bunch of keys to the game that the Bolts must follow, but one essential key will be their run defense. Last season, their run defense was atrocious, and it isn’t any better this season. The Chargers allow 4.4 rush yards to their opponent (20th) and 113.7 rush yards per game (15th).
Their matchup this week isn’t getting any easier as they face last year’s rush yards leader, Josh Jacobs.
The Chargers didn’t do themselves any favors last week, allowing Minnesota Vikings RB Alexander Mattison to rush for 93 yards and the Vikings to rush for 130 yards overall. Before that Week 3 matchup, Mattison failed to reach over 35 rushing yards in each game.
As for Jacobs, he has only rushed for 108 yards through three games, 2.4 yards per rush, and 45 rush attempts. Jacobs is set for a big gam if history repeats itself from last weeke.
However, the Chargers must avoid a breakout game by Jacobs at all costs. This cannot be the Jacobs game because if it is, the Chargers may never get their defnese off the field, and they will drop their first divsion game of 2023.
If Jacobs is due, hopefully, the LA defense can hold off on that for another week.
It will all start and end with each coach, Brandon Staley, and his star plays, Joey Bosa, Khalil Mack, Eric Kendricks, Kenneth Murray Jr., and the other seven guys.
