Chargers News: Reporter Uncovers Origins Of Pregame LA-Dallas Fight

A precursor of their battle on the field.

Tempers flared between the Dallas Cowboys and your Los Angeles Chargers before their official Week 6 clash even kicked off due to a pregame fight between the two teams.

Players from LA and Dallas' sidelines came together just before the game with some bad intentions on both sides.

Kristi Scales of the Dallas Morning News revealed some of the details of the pregame brawl that eventually set the tone for the game.

The tunnel is located on the north side of the field. The Cowboys’ half of the field during pregame is the south side of the field. Uh-oh … opponents running through another team’s pregame drills. What could possibly go wrong? DB warmups take place between the 40- and 50-yard lines directly in front of the Cowboys’ bench. That’s the normal spot for DBs during that portion of the pregame. But as the Cowboys’ defensive linemen ran past (OK, “through” the drills) the DBs took exception. Several of the linemen stopped, including Mazi Smith and Sam Williams. Williams’ facemask was grabbed by a Chargers player and the fracas was underway. Teammates from both sides rushed over. Chargers RB Austin Ekeler made his way into the middle of the skirmish, only to have his helmet knocked off by Dante Fowler. Because the fisticuffs were taking place directly in front of the Cowboys’ bench, several coaches were able to quickly jump in as peacemakers, including Al Harris, Dan Quinn, Evan Harrington and the strength and conditioning coaches.

Sofi Stadium wasn't the only location for a pregame scuffle across the NFL during Week 6 as the 49ers and Browns began their afternoon with a brawl in Sunday's early window.

By the end of Monday night's contest between LA and Dallas, it was the Cowboys who showed more fight than their opponent with a dramatic close win.

Justin Herbert failed to complete a two-minute drill after he threw a game-sealing interception to end the game.

LA now sits with bruises from their pregame brawl and their devastating post-game result as they sunk to under .500 once again headed into Week 7.

Things won't get any easier for Brandon Staley's men for their next contest and it'll take a lot more fight in the Bolts to beat the Chiefs and keep pace in the AFC West.
