San Francisco 49ers Unfazed By Philadelphia Eagles Tush Push: 'Ready For It!'

San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks is prepared for the Philadelphia Eagles' signature play on Sunday.

San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks is getting his team ready to stop the Philadelphia Eagles and the infamous "Tush Push" play on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field.

"I feel like any time we can get them into fourth down, it's still encouraging," Wilks said. "You know, we still have an opportunity regardless that we know that they're going for it. It's something that we've talked about as a staff and something that we definitely have worked on so I'm not going to concede that we can't stop it. We're going to be prepared and ready for it."

The Eagles lead the NFL in fourth down conversion rate, gaining first downs on 76.5 percent of their attempts this season. The tush push isn't just utilized on 4th-and-short though, as Philadelphia has become automatic at scoring touchdowns when it gets down to the goal line.

Jalen Hurts is tied for second in the NFL in rushing touchdowns with 11 on the season.

Star quarterback Jalen Hurts has nine rushing touchdowns inside the 5-yard line this season, tied for the most in the NFL with Baltimore Ravens running back Gus Edwards.

San Francisco's defense has shown how difficult it can make life for opposing offenses this season, holding its opponents to a measly 15.5 points per game, the best mark in the NFL. The 49ers have only allowed 17 touchdowns to opponents all year, and have been very good on fourth down. Opposing teams have converted six fourth downs on 15 attempts, good for a 40 percent stop rate which is sixth-best in the league.

The two teams will face off on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. from Lincoln Financial Field in what could possibly be the game of the year in the regular season.
