Lions vs. Packers Prediction for Thursday Night Football on 9/28

Tonight’s matchup is one we’ll be seeing on another Thursday later in the year - Thanksgiving - but for now, let’s get straight into our Lions vs. Packers prediction for Week 4. This is a spot where Detroit fans haven’t often enjoyed being the favorites, but things have certainly changed.

Even with the Lions on the road, they’re still the slight favorites tonight. Of course, this is a new-look Packers team without QB Aaron Rodgers, but their top RB and WR - Aaron Jones and Christian Watson - are also banged up. That's great news for a Lions team that swept Green Bay last year and have beaten them in three straight.

As if that wasn’t already great enough, Detroit is also 8-2 against the spread in their last 10 games against the Cheeseheads. With that in mind, our best Lions vs. Packers prediction is on Detroit -1.5 (-110 at PointsBet Sportsbook).

Lions vs. Packers Player Prop Picks Highlighting Jahmyr Gibbs & Jordan Love

If you’re one who prefers markets outside of the one targeted with our Lions vs. Packers prediction and other standard markets, we have you covered with Lions vs. Packers player prop as well.

First up is Lions rookie RB Jahmyr Gibbs. Although he got just seven carries in his NFL debut, he broke six tackles and simply looked like the quickest player on the field. Now with RB David Montgomery fighting through a hamstring injury, Gibbs is the featured back. He went for 80 yards on 17 carries last week, and now gets a Packers defense allowing the fifth-most rushing yards per game. Therefore, the first of our Lions vs. Packers player props picks is on Gibbs to score an anytime touchdown (+130 at PointsBet Sportsbook).

On the Green Bay side of things, we’re going with the biggest storyline of the team - QB Jordan Love. By no means is he Rodgers, but if Detroit can be exploited in any way, it’s with their passing defense. It was the third-worst last season and has only looked slightly better this year. We aren’t alone in this approach either; Love’s passing yards prop originally opened at 222.5 yards but has increased to 230.5 yards.

However, it still isn’t quite high enough in our experts’ opinion, and given that we expect Detroit to be leading, the Pack will likely have to primarily throw later in the game. Along with Watson trending towards playing, the second of our Lions vs. Packers player props picks is on Love over 230.5 passing yards (-115 at PointsBet Sportsbook).
