Eagles vs. Patriots Spread Pick, Player Props & Best Bets: Sunday, 9/10

USATSI_16591176

Week 1 of the NFL season has finally arrived, and the Patriots have a tall task at hand with the reigning NFC champion Eagles coming to Gillette Stadium on Sunday. The good news for Patriots fans is that they’ll be honoring a very special guest on the field before the game. Some random guy by the name of Tom Brady will return for a ceremony to honor his legendary career in New England.

His presence alone will have the fans going crazy, and the Patriots will be looking to upset this extremely talented Eagles team. The Eagles are about as close as you can get to having a perfect football team, and the Patriots still have a few question marks heading into the season. However, Bill Belichick is still considered the greatest head coach of all time and as long as he’s with the Patriots, you can never count them out of a game against anyone.

New England made some much-needed improvements over the past eight months, and Pats fans are excited to see if this team can get over the hump. On the other side, Philadelphia comes into this game with virtually the same roster that brought them to the Super Bowl last year, and they may have even slightly improved in the offseason. We’re excited to break down our Eagles vs. Patriots spread pick, as well as our Eagles vs. Patriots player props for Week 1, so continue reading for our expert predictions.

Eagles vs. Patriots Spread & Picks Against the Spread for NFL Week 1 on Sunday, 9/10

When we look at the spread in this game, there’s a lot to break down. The Eagles are currently four-point favorites, which many fans and analysts believe is too low. Considering how good the Eagles have proven to be on both sides of the ball, you may believe Philly should be closer to -7 in this one. However, with the Patriots' acquisition of Bill O’Brien at offensive coordinator, plus the additions of Ezekiel Elliot, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mike Gesicki, this should be a drastically improved offense.

Mac Jones is coming off a rough season, but this was mainly due to former offensive coordinator Matt Patrica’s horrible play-calling. O’Brien and Jones have chemistry from their time at Alabama together, and we should notice a huge improvement immediately when it comes to this offense. Other key players to watch on the Patriots are Rhamondre Stevenson who will keep his role as the main back for New England, with Elliot sharing reps and helping preserve Stevenson.

Elliot is a great red-zone back, and we expect him to help New England pound it into the endzone, as well as help out in short-yardage situations. He’s also an elite blocker in the backfield, which is something the Patriots have been lacking. Also, Kendrick Bourne has shown glimmers of being a star and worthy of being a WR1 in this league. He put on plenty of muscle this offseason, and we expect him to take a big leap this year.

Now, let’s dive into this Eagles offense. Not much has changed since last year, and their key players look to be the same. Jalen Hurts is considered a top QB in the league with his dual threat abilities and throwing accuracy to his elite receiving core of A.J. Brown, Devanta Smith and tight end Dallas Goedert. Their running back room is also deep with Kenneth Gainwell, Rashad Penny, Boston Scott and D’andre Swift. With their offensive line and all of these playmakers, there’s a reason Philadelphia is the favorite to win the Super Bowl.

Lastly, before making our Eagles vs. Patriots spread pick, let’s quickly dive into these defenses. The Patriots always take pride in their D, and Belichick is one of the great defensive minds in history. They let up the least amount of rushing touchdowns of any team last season, which is a strong suit of the Eagles offense.

If the Patriots can take this away, they could force Hurts to make plays he isn’t comfortable making and try to force turnovers. For the Eagles defense, there are some questions as they have five new starters and three new coaches, including a new defensive coordinator.

Our official Eagles vs. Patriots spread pick is the Patriots +4 (-110 at DraftKings Sportsbook). With the Patriots' new-look offense combined with their stellar defense, our experts believe they can do enough to keep this game within a field goal, or potentially cause Hurts to make some early-season mistakes and win the game outright. Let’s back New England with the points on Tom Brady Day.

Eagles vs. Patriots Player Props & NFL Best Bets Featuring Kendrick Bourne and A.J Brown

In addition to our Patriots vs. Eagles spread pick of Patriots +4, we also want to take a stab at some player props. Both of our props will feature a wide receiver from each team. For New England, we believe Kendrick Bourne is going to play a bigger role for the offense this year, and that starts on Sunday. Let’s take a stab at Kendrick Bourne anytime touchdown scorer at +450 odds. He may be the Patriots #1 target, so why not have a little fun on this one?

Also, we know how quickly A.J. Brown can take over a game, and the Patriots run defense may be stingy causing Hurts to go to the air often. Let’s roll with A.J. Brown over 68.5 yards (-115). Don’t break the bank on our Eagles vs. Patriots player props, but our experts like our chances with these odds at DraftKings Sportsbook.
