Raiders and Raiderettes Participate in Nevada Reading Week

Members of the Las Vegas Raiders and Raiderettes took part in reading to students at local elementary schools.

The Las Vegas Raiders took part in a long-week event of visiting and reading to children at local elementary schools during Nevada Reading Week.

Nevada Reading Week focuses on recognizing the importance of reading and inspiring students to continue reading outside the classroom.

While coaches and scouts were busy evaluating the future of the franchise at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine, Raiders players, Raiders Alumni, Raiderettes were busy engaging with students in Southern Nevada.

The week-long event started with Raiders Alumnus Oren O'Neal addressing students at Arturo Cambeiro Elementary School during an awards assembly/ceremony that celebrated the school completing its iReady standardized tests in math and reading skills, and awarded those who excelled.

Raiderettes and Raider Rusher took part in donating Quaker oatmeal, snacks from Melissa’s Produce and 600 backpacks from WSS.

Raiders Pro Bowl defensive end Maxx Crosby was joined by Raiderette Camryn, who attended Frank Lamping Elementary in reading to students in the school’s library.

Safety Jalen Elliott, and cornerback Nate Hobbs visited individual classroom,s where they engaged students in STEM activities and reading circles to support literacy initiatives.

Raiders cornerback Bryce Cosby, guard Jermaine Eluemunor and long snapper Trent Sieg were joined by Raiderettes Vicky and Kylie and Alumnus Leo Gray in reading to students at Robert Lunt Elementary School in Las Vegas.

Raiders staff closed out the week by visiting John R. Hummel Elementary School in Las Vegas, where they also read books to the classrooms.

This marked the fifth year that the Raiders have supported and participated in Nevada Reading Week.

The NFL Draft will occur at Union Station in Kansas City, Mo., fom Thursday, April 27, to seven on Saturday, April 29. ESPN, ABC, and NFL Network will broadcast all seven rounds.

On March 7, 2023, before 4 p.m. EST, is the club's deadline to designate Franchise or Transition Players.

March 13-15 is the free agent negotiation period. Starting at 12 p.m. EDT on March 13 and ending at 3:59:59 p.m. EDT on March 15, clubs are permitted to contact and enter into contract negotiations with the certified agents of players who will become Unrestricted Free Agents upon the expiration of their 2022 Player Contracts at 4 p.m. EDT on March 15.

The 2023 NFL Year and Free Agency period begins at 4 p.m. EDT on March 15. The Raiders are expected to be significant players in the free-agent market this season.
