SoFi Stadium Still 'In The Mix' to Host World Cup Final

The home of the Los Angeles Rams - SoFi Stadium - is 'in the mix; to host The World Cup Final with MetLife Stadium and AT&T Stadium.

A recent report suggested that AT&T Stadium in Dallas was set to host the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but an update indicates the decision is not yet final.

According to a report from the London Times, MetLife Stadium is currently considered the 'slight favorite' to secure the hosting assignment, while AT&T Stadium is making a strong push for the opportunity.

SoFi Stadium has also entered the fray with a last-ditch effort, taking advantage of FIFA's relaxation of some regulations around space requirements for the sides of the pitch.

All three potential host venues face the requirement of installing acceptable grass surfaces, incurring considerable expenses.

This situation highlights the reluctance of owners to provide natural grass - the preferred playing surface for soccer - for NFL games.

The preference for artificial surfaces in NFL stadiums is driven by lower installation and maintenance costs.

The competition between these iconic stadiums adds an extra layer of anticipation to the decision-making process for the prestigious World Cup Final hosting rights.
