Where Do Baltimore Ravens Land in Latest NFL Power Rankings?
The Baltimore Ravens suffered a painful loss to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday afternoon, but how did the loss affect their standing in the NFL's pecking order after Week 10?
Sports Illustrated released its updated power rankings for the league on Tuesday, and the Ravens come in at No. 5, still in the upper echelon of the NFL despite the frustrating loss. It’s impossible to completely shed a team of its tendency to break down at the end of a game. It happens to all 32 teams at various points during the season. Baltimore gambled that it wouldn’t see a handful of clutch throws from Deshaun Watson—a fair bet given the sample size of this season so far—and got caught by surprise.
Sunday's game could be an anomaly for a team that looks to be one of the most complete in the league on both sides of the ball. Quarterback Lamar Jackson of Baltimore has put up strong numbers for what looks like an elite offense so far this season, and he has seen plenty of help from the Ravens defense in the process.
So far this year, the Ravens are outscoring their opponents by an average of 27.0-15.7, a testament to just how strong Baltimore's defense has been, despite its headline-grabbing offense.
Fortunately for Ravens fans, there is a quick turnaround this week and an opportunity to erase the sour taste left in their mouths from the Cleveland loss. Baltimore will play host to the division rival Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday Night Football this week, pitting two of the league's best quarterbacks against one another in Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow.
The Bengals themselves are also coming off a disappointing loss on Sunday, one that came to the up-and-coming Houston Texans.
Kickoff on Thursday night between the Ravens and Bengals is set for 8:15 p.m. ET, and the game will be televised on Prime Video.
