Ravens Mock: Baltimore Bolsters Secondary, Drafts Elite CB Kelee Ringo

With the NFL Draft just over a month away, the latest USA Today mock gives the Ravens a boost on defense.

With the ongoing saga surrounding the contract dispute Baltimore Ravens and star quarterback Lamar Jackson dominating headlines, it has been easy to ignore other aspects of the Ravens offseason.

However, while the Ravens and Jackson continue to negotiate a potential new deal, the Ravens will aim to improve other areas of the team as well.

One avenue to do so is through the draft, with mock drafts going several directions when it comes to Baltimore's pick. In USA Today's latest mock draft, though, they opt to provide the Ravens with an elite defensive playmaker.

Rd. 1 No. 22 - Kelee Ringo - CB (Georgia)

What better way to potentially replace a big, physical corner like Marcus Peters than with a big, physical corner like Ringo ... though he's not the takeaway machine Peters is. Conversely, Peters isn't going to run 4.36, either.

The Ravens were hit hard by injuries in their secondary last season but still fielded a respectable unit. Despite the injuries, they managed to limit teams to 232.2 yards per game through the air.

Take that production and add star cornerback Kelee Ringo and the Ravens have an argument for the best secondary in the NFL. In his final season at Georgia recorded 42 total tackles, two interceptions, a forced fumble, and seven pass deflections.

There are several directions the Ravens could go with this pick, especially if they want to get Jackson more help. However, if they go for secondary help for the second straight draft, it could provide a boost to an already elite unit.
