Ravens Aren't Doomed With Lamar Jackson in Crunch Time; 'People Are Overthinking'

The Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson have been subject to plenty of questions heading into 2023, many of which are unwarranted.

The Baltimore Ravens survived one of the more tumultuous offseason in NFL history — and came out glowing on the other side by signing Lamar Jackson to a massive deal and garnering Odell Beckham Jr.

Despite the star-studded cast in Baltimore this fall, NFL.com says the public may perceive the team as "doomed when they fall behind." But maybe the masses are overthinking.

"I feel like I hear a lot of dumb narratives suggesting Lamar Jackson can't throw," NFL.com writes. "Has anybody ever noticed that the Ravens -- in their entire history -- have never drafted a Pro Bowl receiver?"

Yep. If there's a narrative that Jackson, a former NFL MVP, doesn't meet the standards to be considered an elite quarterback, it should be squashed. Until 2023, Jackson's receiving corps has often been shotty.

"I just want to point out that since at least 2000 (min. 50 attempts), Jackson ranks first in the NFL in pass yards per attempt (9.2) and passer rating (115.8) when the Ravens are trailing with two minutes or less remaining in the fourth quarter," the outlet continued.

And there you go again. Isn't it beautiful how hard, crisp numbers can bury a popular portrayal of Jackson that just isn't right? There's no proof to the veteran quarterback being unable to get the job done late.

What's more, the outlet concludes, Jackson owns a 5:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio while down in the final two minutes of a game. That's tied for second in the NFL since 2000.

Fate of the game on the line, if I need a quarterback, I want Lamar Jackson.
