3 teams make waiver claims on former Saints RB Devine Ozigbo

NEW ORLEANS — Former New Orleans Saints running back Devine Ozigbo drew enough interest from other NFL teams to make putting him on their practice squad an unlikely proposition.
Three teams put waiver claims on the undrafted rookie out of Nebraska, NFL Network reported, after the Saints let him go during the roster cut-down process over the weekend.
The Jacksonville Jaguars drew the winning claim, but the Detroit Lions and Cleveland Browns also made waiver claims on the running back who totaled 1,082 rushing yards and averaged 7 yards per carry with 12 touchdowns as a senior last season.
Any player claimed on waivers must be put on the team's 53-man roster.
The waiver claim order is the same as the NFL Draft order from the spring through the first three weeks of the season.
Without Ozigbo, the Saints signed running back/receiver Taquan Mizzell to the practice squad. The third-year pro spent his first two seasons with the Chicago Bears.
