NFL Mock Draft: Seahawks Take Top Pass Rusher?

The Seattle Seahawks can bolster their pass rush early in this year's NFL Draft.

The Seattle Seahawks will need to make some adjustments at the defensive end position this offseason.

With Leonard Williams entering free agency, the Seahawks either need to re-sign him or look for a long-term replacement early in this year's draft.

Jared Verse

CBS Sports recently curated a mock draft that solves this problem, selecting Florida State's Jared Verse with the No. 16 overall pick.

"Verse has a well-rounded arsenal of pass-rush moves already and has shown the ability to attack from multiple angles," CBS Sports writes. "His 2022 tape was much better than his 2023 tape, but he played his best football of 2023 at the end of the year, so I wonder if he was dealing with an injury."

Verse was the second pass rusher off the board behind Alabama's Dallas Turner, who was drafted at No. 12 to the Denver Broncos.

Verse had potential to be a high pick in last year's draft, but opted to stay one more season at Florida State, where the Seminoles went undefeated until their Orange Bowl loss to the Georgia Bulldogs. Verse was a leader on one of the most dominant defenses in the country, recording nine sacks for a second consecutive season.

Last season, linebacker Boye Mafe led the team with nine sacks, so getting him someone who can line up on the opposite side would do wonders for Mike Macdonald's new defense.
