Seattle Seahawks QB Geno Smith Playing at 'High Level' Despite Turnovers
The Seattle Seahawks are gearing up to face the Cleveland Browns at home on Sunday, as both teams are looking to move to 5-2 this season. But if the Seahawks are going to get past Jim Schwartz's stout defense, limiting turnovers is the name of the game.
Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith has let turnovers creep into his game over the last few weeks, totaling three interceptions in his last two outings.
Despite that, though, Seattle has been winning and his offensive coordinator, Shane Waldron, thinks that Smith is playing at a high level despite the turnovers.
"I think overall he's doing a good job," Waldron said. "He knows taking care of the ball is always going to be paramount in our program here. Week-in and week-out we're going to keep harping on it and keep doing a great job of talking about the different scenarios where we can do a better job. It's the ifs and buts. If you take the couple turnovers away from the game he's playing at a high level. So just continue to keep focusing on the positives, learning from any the negatives that happen in the game, and keep doing what he's doing."
Taking care of the football on Sunday will go a long way to deciding the outcome of the game.

Turnovers have been an issue for the Seahawks offense in the last two games.

The Browns' defense has created six turnovers in their last three games, while the Seahawks' offense has five turnovers in its last two games.
If Seattle has any intention of protecting its home field on Sunday, then Smith and the offense can't be gifting extra possessions to a Browns offense that put up 39 points against the Indianapolis Colts last week without Deshaun Watson and Nick Chubb.
The Seahawks offense did a superb job of protecting the football through the first four games, but over the last fortnight? Not so much.
With Seattle aiming to keep pace and potentially overtake the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC West, taking care of business against Cleveland is job No. 1.
