Seattle Seahawks Sign WR Laviska Shenault Jr.; Contract Details Revealed

The Seattle Seahawks are getting a depth receiver and potential return man for dirt cheap.

There's a new receiver in the Emerald City, as the Seattle Seahawks signed Laviska Shenault on Tuesday.

A 2020 second-round pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars, Shenault started off his career with some promise as he had five touchdowns as a rookie and 600 receiving yards in each of his two seasons in Jacksonville.

After the Jaguars traded him to the Carolina Panthers in 2022, though, his production took a nosedive. In his two seasons in Carolina, Shenault had just 332 yards (60 last season) and one touchdown.

Now on his third NFL team, Shenault is hoping for a revival of sorts in Seattle. He projects to be a fourth or fifth receiver on the depth chart, and he'll be paid as such.

According to ESPN's Brady Henderson, the Seahawks signed Shenault to the minimum for a four-year veteran. His one-year contract carries a base salary of $1.125 million with a signing bonus of $167,500.

After signing Shenault, the Seahawks are right up against the salary cap with only around $2 million in cap space to spare.
