49ers vs. Steelers Spread Pick, Player Props & Best Bets: Sunday, 9/10
It is finally time, folks. The NFL season has arrived, and we’re in for a great contest in Week 1 between San Francisco and Pittsburgh. Our experts believe we can find an edge with our 49ers vs. Steelers spread pick, as well as our 49ers vs. Steelers player props. The last time the 49ers traveled to Pittsburgh, they lost by nearly thirty points back in 2015.
Of course, the 49ers have gotten much better since, and they’ll be hoping for a much better performance this time around. San Francisco has improved year after year under coach Kyle Shanahan, and they’ll be a very tough opponent for the Steelers to kick off their season against.
On the flip side, Mike Tomlin and the Steelers always have high playoff hopes, and there seems to be a different aura around this Steelers team heading into the season. There’s a lot of optimism from Pittsburgh fans as they have a lot to be excited about. Kenny Pickett has proven that he’s a starting QB in this league and he doesn’t plan on going anywhere. He’ll square off against a similar quarterback in Brock Purdy, who also looks to have a bright future ahead of him.
This matchup will be a solid test for both teams to see where they stand, as the 49ers plan to go deep in the NFL playoffs again, and the Steelers hope to win their very tough AFC North division. Both squads look solid offensively and defensively, making this a fairly even matchup. Keep reading for our 49ers vs. Steelers spread pick with betting odds powered by FanDuel Sportsbook.

49ers vs. Steelers Spread and Picks Against the Spread for NFL Week 1 on Sunday, 9/10
On Sunday 9/10, we should be in for a show. Below, we’re excited to break down our 49ers vs. Steelers spread picks. San Francisco and Pittsburgh are some of the more passionate fan bases in football, and both of these teams come into the season with high playoff hopes.
The 49ers are coming off a great season in which they made it all the way to the NFC Championship behind the emergence of Brock Purdy. They did lose the game 31-7 to Philly, but San Francisco fans were still somewhat satisfied with their season, as they may have found a franchise quarterback in Purdy.
On the other side of things, Pittsburgh fans feel as though they’re ready to go over the hump this year with some of their young talent, mixed with their defense, which is led by T.J. Watt. Watt is an absolute force, and arguably the best defensive player in the NFL. His leadership paired with their exciting young guys make the Steelers’ defense a potential top-five unit in the league.
When we look at the 49ers defense, Joey Bosa has been banged up and his status remains up in the air for Sunday. The 49ers still have a great defense without him, but it’s still a major loss if he can’t suit up.
Now, let's move on to the offenses. Starting off with San Francisco, most NFL fans are aware of their talent. With Deebo Samuel, Cristian McCaffrey, George Kittle and Brandon Aiyuk, this offense is certainly dangerous. We still don’t have a huge sample size from Purdy, though, and Acrisure Field will be intimidating on Sunday.
For the Steelers offensive stars, we have Najee Harris, who should be a top back in the league this year. George Pickens will also most likely take another step up this season and cement himself as a top receiver in the NFL. Paired with Pickett in year two, we expect a big increase in production from everyone. Also, Diontae Johnson had a solid year last year with over 800 yards, despite failing to score a touchdown. We expect to see him get in the end zone more this time around.
With all of that being said, let’s get into our 49ers vs. Steelers spread pick. Our experts think we found an edge on the first-half spread. The 49ers are probably the better team on paper, but this is going to be a hostile environment for them to walk into this week. We like the Steelers’ first-half spread at +0.5 points (-112 at FanDuel), as we expect them to come out and score early to set the tone at home. Even if the game ends up tied at halftime, this is still a winning bet.

49ers vs. Steelers Player Props & NFL Best Bets Featuring George Pickens & Najee Harris
As we stated above, our main 49ers vs. Steelers spread pick is the Steelers first-half spread at +0.5 (-112 at FanDuel). However, we also want to take a shot on some 49ers vs. Steelers player props. We believe we can find an edge on some Steelers players to find the end zone on Sunday. First off, we want to roll with Najee Harris to be the first touchdown scorer in the game at (+650). The Steelers will come out all fired up, and we can see them pounding it in the end zone with Harris to open things up.
Also, we believe that George Pickens can find the end zone at some point in this game. He’s the WR1 for this offense, and if the Steelers want to win this game, they’ll need some big plays out of Pickens. Pickens Anytime Touchdown Scorer is currently set at (+225), which feels like a generous line. Don’t break the bank on these props, but they’re fun bets with solid chances to hit.
