Steelers Get Major Nick Bosa News

The Pittsburgh Steelers will face the reigning DPOY.

PITTSBURGH — It’s official: The Pittsburgh Steelers will face Nick Bosa when they take the field against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year has signed a new five-year deal, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL.

Just days before the 49ers were set to travel cross-country to Pittsburgh, Bosa and the team ended his holdout and agreed to a five-year, $170 million deal with $122.5 million guaranteed.

The Steelers have practiced as if Bosa would play, and viewed the situation much like T.J. Watt’s in 2021.

"We were in a similar circumstance with a dynamic rusher a couple years ago in T.J.," head coach Mike Tomlin said about Bosa's situation. "We got a deal done in the eleventh hour. He showed up in the stadium and he was T.J. Watt that day. That's what those guys do. They show up and they are who they are."

Watt’s opening week game that season ended with two sacks.
