Houston ALERT: Tornado Watch Issued for Michigan vs. Washington National Championship Game
NRG Stadium is the site of the College Football Playoff National Championship on Monday night, and those who are inside the building figure to be safe.
But a tornado watch has been issued for Houston and the area ... and that might impact many for parts of Texas and Louisiana, including Houston.
The watch is set through 9 p.m. tonight, which makes it something to monitor - and a concern on many levels - as the title game featuring Michigan and Washington is set for a 6:45 p.m. kickoff locally.
"Multiple tornadoes are likely along with damaging winds and hail. The threat moves across the Gulf overnight, so be sure to have alerts if you live anywhere from Louisiana to Mississippi and Alabama," said the Weather Nation account on Twitter.
Clearly, as much passion as we have for football - including of course directed at the AFC South champion and NFL playoff-bound Houston Texans - the No. 1 concern here is for safety of anyone heading to the game ... and for the safety of citizens in general.
So, let's hope the storms do not cause any serious damage in any way to our area ... and please stay plugged in to information outlets so you can be kept safe if you are in the path of the tornadoes.
