Ron Rivera Reveals Cancer Diagnosis to Team

It’s been a rough offseason for the Washington football team. Not only are they preparing for the 2020 season with a new head coach in Ron Rivera doing a global pandemic, but the franchise received heavy criticism and boycotts that led to owner Daniel Snyder removing the team’s controversial name, and running back Derrius Guice was released after turning himself in to authorities due to a domestic violence incident. Now the club has another obstacle to overcome. Coach Rivera revealed to his players he’s been diagnoses with an early form of lymph node cancer. Rivera plans on continuing his role as head coach and told reporters the form of cancer is very treatable. Sports Illustrated’s Michael Fabiano and Chris Russell discussed the impact of Rivera’s diagnosis on the roster and upcoming season.
