New Hampshire will take on Vermont at the Patrick Gymnasium in Burlington, Vermont, in the America East Conference semifinals with a chance at a championship birth and to play for a spot in the NCAA Tournament. The Catamounts were wildly favored to win the tournament finishing with a 26-6 record overall this season and leading the conference with a 15-1 record, four games over Bryant and UMass Lowell. The only conference game they lost this season was to NJIT in the middle of February by two points. They entered the tournament in the quarterfinals and beat U of Albany by three points 75-72. TJ Long had 20 points on 5-of-15 shooting with six rebounds. Shamir Bogues had 16 points with four rebounds and five assists. Aaron Deloney was the only other player in double figures with 17 points.

The Wildcats finished their season 16-14 overall and just 7-9 against conference teams in the AEC. As the No. 4 team, they entered the tournament in the quarterfinals as well against Binghamton winning 77-64.
Clarence Daniels led the team in that first win with 20 poinst on 5-of-11 shooting. He also had a team-high 14 rebounds in the team's only double-double. All five starters ended in double figures as well.
