No. 1 seed Villanova will take its home court at Finneran Pavilion against the No. 8 seed in the region, VCU, in the first round of the NIT Tournament on Wednesday. The Wildcats finished their season 18-15 overall and 10-10 against Big East opponents. Going into the conference tournament as the No. 6 seed, they beat DePaul in the first round by just one point on a Justin Moore buzzer beater. However, that spark quickly faded as they lost in overtime to Marquette in the quarterfinals. This team had some great moments throughout the season highlighted by a win over the NCAA No. 1 seed UNC. Eric Dixon and Moore will look to put them back on the map and win a championship in the NIT. Dixon is averaging 16.6 points per game and a team-high 6.3 rebounds per game. Moore is averaging 10.1 points and 3.5 rebounds with 2.3 assists per game.

The Rams finished their season 22-13 overall and 11-7 against teams from the Atlantic 10 Conference. They beat Fordham, UMass and Saint Joseph's on their way to an A10 championship appearance against Duquesne. They were just six points away from a NCAA Tournament birth.

Max Shulga leads the team in scoring this season averaging 14.6 points per game with a team-high 3.6 assists as well. He will need to be the team's x-factor moving forward.
