Through one round of play at the inaugural St. Andrews Collegiate Invitational Tournament the leaderboards are fairly compact. All four teams in the men’s event are within eight strokes of the lead, while in the women’s event, the scores are even closer, with all four teams within four strokes of the lead. The top overall team heading into the second round Tuesday is North Carolina, who leads by two strokes in the women’s event (+12) and are tied for the lead in the men’s event (seven-under-par) with Vanderbilt. The Tar Heels entered this event as the top ranked men’s team and the 30th ranked women’s team.

The teams played on the Jubilee Course in the first round with all of the players adjusting to the weather and the setting of playing in St. Andrews, Scotland.
The overall men’s standings entering the second round have the Commodores and Tar Heels tied at seven-under-par, Notre Dame at three under par and Georgetown in last place at just one-overpar. Jackson Van Paris (six-under-par) is the men’s individual leader.
For the women, the Tar Heels have a slight edge at 12-over-par, two strokes ahead of the Fighting Irish, who are at 14-over-par, while the Commodores and Hoyas have the most work to do today at 16-over-par. Kayla Smith (three-under-par) of the Tar Heels is the individual leader and only player under par for the women through the first round.
