On Sunday afternoon, the ACC Tournament final will take place between unlikely seventh-seeded North Carolina and fourth-seeded Clemson as the teams look to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament from an ACC Tournament title. The Tar Heels had a long journey to the final starting with a 4-1 win over tenth-seeded Virginia Tech before beating its hardest opponent in the tournament, second-seeded Wake Forest, in a 1-0 victory in the quarterfinals. The team went on to beat sixth-seeded Syracuse in the semifinal round on Wednesday to earn a spot in the final. Martin Vician netted his sixth and seventh goals of the year in the win while Daniel Kutsch scored the game-winner in the 37th minute. Andrew Cordes made eight saves in the game to help his team earn a spot in the final.

The Tigers earned a first-round bid with its fourth-place finish in regular season play. The team took on fifth-seeded Duke in the quarterfinal round and played the Blue Devils to a 3-3 draw before winning in penalties. The next game was played against ninth-seeded Louisville in a big 5-1 win to earn a spot in the final. Remi Okunlola, Isaiah Easley and Gael Gibert each scored once during the semifinals while Ousmane Sylla scored a brace with his first and second goals of the season in the win. Joseph Andema only saw one shot during the game and it made it past him, but he stood strong between the posts for the remainder of the game.
The last time UNC and Clemson met was during the 2022 season and Clemson earned a narrow 1-0 victory over the Tar Heels.
