Villanova held Providence to just five hits in yesterday's game with Julia Renny accounting for the team's only run of the game with a solo home run down the left-field line in the second inning. Torie Grifone took the loss for the Friars after pitching 4.2 innings and giving up one earned run.

The Wildcats remain perfect in conference play so far this season with a 5-0 record against Big East opponents and an overall record of 13-11. Despite only producing four hits in yesterday's win against Providence, the team was able to pull off the win. Elaina Wagner grounded out to shortstop to score Brooklyn Ostrowski. In the third, Chloe Smith singled to bring home Victoria Sebastian. Ally Jones was walked in the seventh in a bases-loaded situation to score Elizabeth Gray and Ostrowski flied out center field, bringing home Tess Cites to secure the victory. Kelsey White improved to 3-2 on the season after pitching 3.1 innings and striking out two batters.
