Jalen Phillips led the Matadors' offense with 21 kills and recorded a team-high five aces in the loss. Donovan Constable led the team in assists with 55 to support offensive play while Kyle Hobus, Griffin Walters and Phillips each finished the game with five digs to anchor the defensive efforts.

The Trojans come into Wednesday night's contest with an overall record of 5-1 so far. The team's only loss of the season came against No. 4 Ohio State in a five-set defeat its last time out at the First Point Collegiate Challenge. Against the Buckeyes, Jack Deuchar led at the net with 14 kills and six blocks while Caleb Blanchette supported offensive play with 39 assists in the loss. Austin Stuard led the defensive efforts with seven digs, but it wasn't enough to hold off the Buckeyes.
Wednesday's match will be the 83rd meeting all-time between the Matadors and Trojans with USC holding a 49-33 lead in the series.
