The Bruins come into Thursday night's home game with an overall record of 5-1, having only lost to Ohio State in a five-set battle last week. The team bounced back to earn a straight-set win over Penn State on Saturday. Alex Knight led the attack for the Bruins against the Nittany Lions with nine kills on 17 swings for a hitting percentage of .412. He received support at the net from Andrew Rowan who delivered 23 assists in the win. The defense was led by Ethan Champlin who finished the game with five digs.
UCLA and UC Santa Barbara met twice last season and the Bruins took both games in straight sets.
