Charles Leclerc hopes to convert a pole position to a victory for the first time this season after claiming P1 for Saturday night's Las Vegas Grand Prix

Ferrari's Charles Leclerc hopes the fifth time is the charm in 2023 after winning the pole position for the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix, set for Saturday night. The pole award is Leclerc's fifth this season, but he was not able to convert any of those into race wins. Leclerc has five career wins, but none since topping the podium at Spielberg in the Austrian Grand Prix in July 2022. Qualifying was a clean sweep for Ferrari as Carlos Sainz finished 0.044 seconds behind his teammate. However, Sainz will start from the 12th position after an engine penalty cost him a 10-place grid penalty.

George Russell of Mercedes and Pierre Gasly of Alpine start on the second row. Meanwhile, the battle for second place behind Verstappen in this year's driver standings will begin from the middle of the starting grid. Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton starts 10th and Sergio Pérez of Red Bull begins 11th.

Pérez enters Las Vegas with a 32-point lead over Hamilton with two races remaining. The season finale in Abu Dhabi is set for next weekend.
