The IHSA Class 3A boys' state tournament will come to a close on Saturday night as Mt. Carmel takes on DePaul College Prep in the championship game. Tonight's game will be the second time these two teams have met this season with DePaul winning the first game in a 41-38 victory. Mt. Carmel comes into the championship game after defeating Mr. Zion 65-49 in the semifinals. Cameron Thomas and Grant Best each scored 14 points to lead Mt. Carmel while Thomas led the team with six rebounds. Angelo Ciaravino added 13 points to the scoreboard. On the season, Mt Carmel is 32-5 and Ciaravino leads the scoring with 15.1 points per game.

DePaul College Prep won its semifinal game against Peoria Richwoods on Friday in a 52-41 victory. On the Season, DePaul College Prep is 34-2 overall. DePaul is led by first-team all-conference teammates PJ Chambers and Jaylan McElroy. Head Coach Tom Kleinschmidt earned the Chicago Catholic League Coach of the Year as he has led his team to yet another successful season. Chambers leads the team with 412 points scored this season, averaging 12.5 points per game. Makai Kvamme leads the team with 102 assists on the season. In the win against Richwoods, Kvamme had 15 points, six assists and three steals while Chambers tied Kvamme with 15 points and added two steals, as well.
