There will be a new Wisconsin Division 5 state champion and Columbus Catholic (27-2) is the favorite to win its first title as the top seed in the state tournament at the Kohl Center in Madison. The Dons face off with No. 4 seed Solon Springs (27-2) in the first semifinal on Friday morning. Columbus Catholic won the Section 3 title with a pair of three-point victories after rolling through its regional. The Eagles weren't severely tested on their way to Madison, winning their four tournament games by an average of 28 points, including a pair of 18-point triumphs in the Section 1 tournament. This is Solon Springs' first visit to the state tournament.

The Dons hit 14-of-30 from 3-point range and Emmitt Konieczny hit two foul shots with 10 seconds left to lift them to an 80-77 victory over Cashton in Saturday's sectional final in La Crosse. Konieczny had a game-high 26 points while Charlie Moore and Blake Jakobi each had 16.
Isaiah Kastern scored 21 points and led the Eagles past Owen-Withee 59-41 in their sectional championship game on Saturday night in Ashland. Owen-Withee had knocked off their No. 1 regional seed, Rib Lake, on March 2. For Solon Springs, it's a bit of revenge — it had a 13-point lead with seven minutes remaining in last year's sectional final before losing.
The winner advances to Saturday's state championship game against the winner of the latest semifinal between Abundant Life Christian and Almond-Bancroft.
