The IndyCar Series is back on the streets of Long Beach this weekend for the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, a race that dates back to 1975. Kyle Kirkwood won the pole position on Saturday, his first career IndyCar pole award, with a 1:06.2878 final lap. He will be joined on the front row by Marcus Ericsson while last year's winner, Josef Newgarden, qualified eighth. Newgarden comes in off a win at Texas Motor Speedway on April 2 in the series' second event of 2023, the PPG 375. The course at Long Beach is 1.968 miles and involves 11 turns around the waterfront roughly 25 miles south of downtown Los Angeles.

Romain Grosjean and Álex Palou are on the second row Sunday, with six-time series champion Scott Dixon joined by Pato O'Ward on the third row. Behind them are Colton Herta and Newgarden, with Scott McLaughlin and Felix Rosenqvist rounding out the top 10.
O'Ward leads the driver standings with 82 points, followed by Ericsson's 75. Dixon is third, 15 points behind, with Newgarden (16 points back) and Palou (22 points behind) in the top five.
Since the IndyCar Series began racing at Long Beach in 2008, defending series champion Will Power, Mike Conway and Alexander Rossi have won it twice.
