The playoffs are underway in the Premier Lacrosse League and on Sunday afternoon, the Archers and Redwoods will square off in the first semifinal at Shuart Stadium in New York. The PLL is an American professional lacrosse league made up of eight teams. The league's inaugural season debuted on June 1, 2019, and included a 14-week tour-based schedule taking place in 12 cities. The league was founded by the American professional lacrosse player Paul Rabil and his brother Mike Rabil. The league gives college graduates the opportunity to continue their lacrosse careers after graduation while spreading popularity for the sport across the country.

The Redwoods finished the regular season in fourth place with a record of 6-4. The team squared off against the Chaos in the first round of playoffs and won the game 15-9. Wes Berg led the Redwoods on the stat sheet by scoring seven of the team's 15 goals in the win. Jack Kelly made 20 saves in net for a 71.4 save percentage.
The Archers ended the season in the top spot after earning an 8-2 record which earned them a bye in the first round of playoffs. The team's most recent game resulted in its second loss of the season in a tight 14-13 defeat to the Waterdogs. Connor Fields led the offensive efforts with four goals and two assists for a six-point game. Nick Washuta came up with 12 saves but came up just short in net for the team.
When these two teams met during the regular season, the Archers walked away with an easy 10-3 win.
