The Worcester Red Sox (75-63, 36-27) kept pace with the first-place Durham Bulls with a win on Tuesday and remain four-and-a-half games out in the International League second half. On Wednesday, the Red Sox will take on the Syracuse Mets (55-80, 22-39) in the second game of a six-game series at Polar Park in Worcester. Veteran Kyle Barraclough gets the ball for the WooSox, coming in 8-0 with a 2.98 ERA in 11 starts and 12 appearances overall. The 33-year-old has a 1.16 WHIP in 66-plus innings. Syracuse will send right-hander Jose Chacin to the bump. The 26-year-old is making his third start and eighth appearance for the Mets since coming up from Double-A Binghamton on Aug. 11. Chacin has a 7.20 ERA and 1.60 WHIP in 20 innings.

Worcester took an early 2-0 lead on a two-run double by Stephen Scott in the first inning and blew the game open with a five-run fourth en route to a 10-2 victory on Tuesday. Niko Kavadas hit the first of his two home runs in the big fourth inning and Christian Koss also went deep. Corey Kluber allowed two hits and fanned two in two-and-two-third innings in a rehab start.

The Mets broke up the shutout when Lorenzo Cedrola skied a two-run homer to left-center field in the top of the ninth. Syracuse had just five hits but six Red Sox pitchers combined to issue eight walks.

Left-hander Shane Drohan got the win in relief, working three-and-two-third no-hit innings, but he walked seven batters and just 38 of his 80 pitches were strikes. Worcester set a Boston Red Sox organizational record with its 210th home run of the season, the most by a Triple-A affiliate, topping the old mark of 209 set in 1996 by the Pawtucket Red Sox.
