Syracuse had not won a road game since Aug. 10 before riding a four-run second inning to a 7-1 victory over the Red Sox on Wednesday. Danny Mendick lined a bases-clearing double to right field to cap the big second inning and Daniel Palka padded the lead with a two-run single in the fourth. Mendick added an RBI single in the ninth.
Worcester's lone run came in the fourth inning on Enmanuel Valdez's RBI single. Jose Chacin allowed a run on five hits in six innings to get his first Triple-A victory while the Mets handed Kyle Barraclough his first loss of the season after eight straight wins.
Vasil was an eighth-round pick by the New York Mets out of the University of Virginia in 2021 and pitched in the Futures Game on July 7 in Seattle.
