After coughing up a 2-0 lead in the top of the eighth inning, the Tides reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the frame on Meibrys Viloria's RBI infield single. A two-run knock by Joseph Rosa added some insurance in the 5-2 victory. Kyle Stowers put Norfolk up 2-0 with a two-run homer in the sixth. Lefty Cade Povich fanned eight in six shutout innings.
Juan Yepez blooped a game-tying two-run single into left field in the top of the eighth to tie the game for the Redbirds, who mustered just five hits.
As the first-half IL champion, the Tides will host the International League Championship Series, a best-of-three, against the second-half winner with Game 1 set for Sept. 24. The Durham Bulls lead the Lehigh Valley IronPigs by two games with seven to play in the second half.
