The Weather Guard Truck Race, launched in 2021 as a dirt-track race on the 0.533-mile oval at Bristol Motor Speedway, switches over to the regular concrete surface for this spring's edition. Defending race winner Joey Logano won't be in a truck this weekend for the 79.95-miler and race-day qualifying is set for Saturday afternoon. The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series returns to action after taking last weekend off, with Rajah Caruth coming off a historic win at Las Vegas on March 1. Caruth became just the third Black driver to win a race on one of NASCAR's top three series, joining Wendell Scott and Bubba Wallace, and clinched a provisional spot in the playoffs in the process.

Despite not winning a race, Tyler Ankrum leads the driver standings by five points over Ty Majeski on the strength of leading a series-best 62 laps this season. Corey Heim is seven points back, with Caruth 10 points behind. Nick Sanchez, who won the season opener at Daytona last month, is 29 points off Ankrum's pace.
Logano bested Majeski on the dirt last year by 1.241 seconds, leading 138 of the 150 laps. Ben Rhodes, the defending series champion, finished 19th after winning the race in 2022. There were only four lead changes in the race, with Logano ahead of the field for the last 99 trips around the short track.
It's a tight schedule for the drivers, who were scheduled for their lone practice run just before the start of qualifying.
