Ireland (4-0-0, 19 points) won pool play and advanced to the knockout stage with South Africa (3-0-1, 15 points), while Scotland (2-0-2, 10 points) joins Tonga and Romania as eliminated countries.
In pool play Tonga has really struggled to compete with the three high-class countries in Pool B. They lost to Ireland (59-16), Scotland (45-17) and South Africa (49-18) with a -102 point differential.
It was worse for Romania, who have by far the worst point differential this year of -234 behind losses to Ireland (82-8), South Africa (76-0) and Scotland (84-0) making them statistically the last placed team overall if they cannot pull off the minor upset with a win or draw today.
