Super Bowl 2024: Opening Odds, Lines and Early Predictions for 49ers vs. Chiefs
After a first glance at the Super Bowl odds, it’s safe to say that it’s going to be one of the most difficult games to predict, as we have virtually a pick ‘em. It feels even more difficult to get a read on the 49ers vs. Chiefs matchup given that both of their opponents in the Championship Round seemed to beat themselves.
For this rematch of Super Bowl 54, we’re predicting a closer game that has a similar game script to the NFC Championship Game. That means one in which the Chiefs come out hot and control the first half while the 49ers make the halftime adjustments and control the second half. So, with the game truly seeming like it could do either way, we’re going to target the over/under in the Super Bowl opening odds.
Early Picks and Best Bets for Super Bowl 58
The focus of our Super Bowl picks is on a high-scoring game. As mentioned, this is a rematch of the Super Bowl just a few seasons ago, which featured 51 total points. These teams then had a rematch last season, where we saw a whopping 67 points.
In fact, that marked three straight high-scoring games between these elite franchises, as the one prior to Super Bowl 54 featured 65 total points. They may have been known for their defenses in the regular season, but they have been exposed in the playoffs. After all, we saw the 49ers get torched for 24 points in the first half alone this past Sunday.
You may see that the Chiefs allowed just 10 points to the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship Game, but that featured two costly turnovers in the endzone that were simply mistakes and numerous costly penalties. That’s not something we can rely on happening again to benefit the KC defense.
Therefore, we expect both teams to get theirs, making the best bet from our Super Bowl predictions 📈 Over 47.5 (-110 at Caesars).
Super Bowl 58 Prop Picks Featuring: Isaiah Pacheco & Christian McCaffrey
Trust us when we say that we completely understand that the Super Bowl odds don’t lend themselves to most favorable values, so we’ve also provided our favorite prop picks for you. The first of those features Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco.
He was set to finally have a bad matchup with KC heading to Baltimore against the Ravens, but head coach Andy Reid knew that leaning on the young RB was the way to go. Pacheco was fed 24 carries - far more than his expected 13.5 carries. Admittedly, 68 rushing yards on those 24 carries is not overly impressive, but we just saw the 49ers run defense look pedestrian.
Deep into the NFC Championship Game, there were three Detroit Lions RBs with more rushing yards than 49ers All-Pro RB Christian McCaffrey. That was all we needed to see to also want to attack the Super Bowl odds with Isiah Pacheco O68.5 Rushing Yards (-117 at Caesars).
Speaking of McCaffrey, we’re also targeting CMC in the Super Bowl odds. He wasn’t on the team for this 49ers vs. Chiefs matchup in Super Bowl 54, and we’re confident he’s going to help San Fran have a better chance at revenge. We’re going to focus on his ability to be the best dual threat in the NFL and target a receiving prop.
He had four catches for 42 yards in the NFC Championship Game, and that was very mild for him. CMC finished the year with the second-most receiving yards among RBs, and with Chiefs DT Chris Jones’ ability to get pressure, we expect 49ers QB Brock Purdy to need to dump things off quickly more often than not.
So, we’re also targeting Christian McCaffrey O4.5 Receptions (-160 at Caesars) in the Super Bowl odds.
