The AFC Asian Cup is down to four teams, and I have two Asian Cup Semifinal predictions for this week. Unfortunately, I split my Asian Cup Quarterfinal predictions after Japan was upset by Iran, but South Korea’s stoppage-time goal allowed me to nail my best bet in the Australia vs. South Korea game. There are two different games to bet on this week in the 2024 AFC Asian Cup, so I’ve bolded each of my Asian Cup Semifinal picks for the three-way money line below:

Asian Cup Semifinal Best Bets: Jordan vs. South Korea O2.5 (+115 at Caesars)
To start my Asian Cup Semifinal predictions, I’m betting on Jordan vs. South Korea Over 2.5 Goals (+115 at Caesars). I backed both teams to score in the Australia vs. South Korea quarterfinal matchup, and although it took South Korea 96 minutes to find the back of the net, that wager came through. Scoring has been a consistent theme for Jürgen Klinsmann’s squad, and I anticipate more of the same in their semifinal matchup against Jordan.
Jordan has made a miracle run to the Asian Cup Semifinal after finishing third in their group with three points. However, Houcine Ammouta has managed the team extremely well, and their attack has been a focal point. Jordan has 10 goals in five games at this year’s tournament, and six of their last eight games finished with three goals or more. Although they squeaked by Tajikistan 1-0, they’ve given up a goal in five of their last seven matches.
Both teams have scored in five straight games for South Korea, and all but one of their games at the 2024 Asian Cup finished with fewer than three goals. Nine of their last 10 games in competitive matches finished with 3+ goals, and I don’t expect either manager will take a cautious approach to the game. Therefore, I’m starting my Asian Cup Semifinal predictions with a wager on Jordan vs. South Korea Over 2.5 Goals (+115 at Caesars).
Asian Cup Semifinal Best Bets: Qatar to Advance (+200 at Caesars) vs. Iran
The next one of my Asian Cup semifinal predictions is a bit juicier, as I’ll be backing Qatar to Advance (+200 at Caesars) against Iran. Now, the Iranians pulled off the upset of this year’s tournament by taking down Japan in the quarterfinals without their star attacker Mehdi Taremi. However, their game against Qatar won’t be easy either, and I think the Asian Cup semifinal odds at Caesars should be closer to a pick ‘em.
Qatar has never taken down Iran, so there should be extra motivation for them to advance. Additionally, this game is being played in Qatar, and although Iran will have support, Qatar should receive a slight advantage. Qatar is 8-1-1 in their last 10 competitive games, which includes a victory against Mexico in the Gold Cup. They’ve only allowed seven goals in that stretch, four of which came in their lone 4-0 defeat to Panama, so the defense will be key against Iran.
On the flip side, Iran is 7-2-1 in their last 10 games, with their only losses coming against England and the USA in the World Cup. This team has played extremely well all tournament and picked up a total team victory against Japan without FC Porto attacker Mehdi Taremi. They could very well advance past Qatar, but it doesn’t make sense they’re a -275 favorite to advance.
Therefore, I’ll close out my Asian Cup predictions by backing Qatar to Advance (+200 at Caesars) vs. Iran.

Predicted Lineups and Injury Report for Asian Cup Semifinals Including Mehdi Taremi & Hwang Hee-Chan
One of the biggest storylines I discussed in my Asian Cup quarterfinal predictions involved Iranian striker Mehdi Taremi. The FC Porto attacker picked up two yellow cards in the Round of 16, causing him to miss Iran’s quarterfinal against Japan. However, he will return for Wednesday’s matchup against Qatar, so Iran will be at full strength once again.
For the other semifinal, a major storyline has been centered around the health of South Korean striker Hwang Hee-Chan. The Wolverhampton Wolves striker dealt with a hip injury entering the tournament, which caused him to completely miss their opening games against Bahrain and Jordan. However, he returned in their final group stage game and followed that up by slotting a penalty kick in the 96th minute against Australia that forced overtime.
Iran and South Korea’s attacking stars will be ready to roll this week, so I included both players in the teams' starting lineups when making Asian Cup predictions. Here are my Asian Cup semifinal predicted lineups for all four teams:
